Tipping

Korea

Not really part of the culture. Never expected at restaurants or in taxis.

Guides
About US$8 - 10 per person per day for a private guide, US$3 - 5 for a driver. The Seoul food tour guide's tip is not included
Hotels
Luxury hotels add a service charge, so nothing extra is needed

China

Not expected, with one exception: private guides and drivers.

Guides
100 - 200 RMB (about US$15 - 30) per day for the guide, 50 - 100 RMB (about US$8 - 15) for the driver, for the two of you
Hotels
Optional 10 - 20 RMB (about US$1.50 - 3) for a bellhop
Dining
No tip. Some upscale restaurants add a 10 - 15% service charge

Cambodia

Appreciated, and US dollars are used everywhere.

Guides
US$10 - 20 per day for the guide, about half that for the driver
Hotels
US$1 - 2 per bag for porters. Service charge is usually included
Dining
Round up, or about 10% if no service charge is added
Spa
About 10% for good service

Vietnam

Appreciated.

Guides
US$10 - 20 per day for the guide, about half that for the driver
Hotels
US$1 - 2 per bag for porters, about US$2 a day for housekeeping
Dining
5 - 10% at nicer restaurants if no service charge is added
Spa
US$5 - 10

These are typical amounts, not rules. Tip more for service that stands out, and skip it where a service charge already appears on the bill.
